Wii Fit

Wii Fit is a Nintendo Wii video game designed for players who want to get fit or lose weight.  People, who have avoided regular exercise because it’s boring, believe the Wii Fit will make it fun for them.  The concept of rewarding players by opening up new mini games when their level progresses will motivate some to continue “exercising.”  Each player can create a profile the tracks their overall progress and help them achieve the goals they’ve set.

Wii Fit comes with a “balance board,” where much of the play revolves around.  Players either stands and balances on this board or steps on and off according to the games they are playing.  Nintendo believes balance is important to overall fitness and health.  Upon creating a profile and entering height data, this board weighs a player to measure a player’s BMI — Body Mass Index and Wii Fit Age.  This information is then used to track the player’s progress.  There is also a “personal trainer” feature included.

The Nintendo Wii Fit probably will get people to start exercising because it’s novel and fun.  Although users report getting a good sweat from some of the exercise games, common sense tells us that nothing beats going outdoors and getting our physical activities meet under natural fresh air and sunshine.  Unfortunately, the balance board can only support up to 330 pounds.  The delay in switching between players discourages some from using the multi-player feature.

Wii Fit is $123.99
