Technologically speaking, the Aegis Medical Alert System is one of the most advanced home medical alert systems available to the general public.
For example, the transmitter (either worn on the wrist or around the neck as a pendant) uses a RF wireless technology that provides an extended range of use that is reliable when it is needed the most. The pendant and wrist transmitters should be worn at all times and can be worn while in the bath or shower.
The wrist or pendant devices run on low power allowing the battery it uses to last on average 3 years or more. The base unit continuously recharges a backup battery which can power the unit for over 24 hours in case of a power outage.
The Aegis Medical Alert System comes fully assembled and programmed when shipped. Once plugged into any phone jack and power outlet in the home, the Aegis system is ready to be use immediately. Additional programming is not required.
There are advantages of the “hands free” feature of the base unit.
One of them is the built in speakerphone. Users can have a two-way conversation with the Aegis Help Advisor up to 35 feet away from the unit on an emergency call.
However, the location of the unit doesn’t need to be fixed. It can be moved anywhere at anytime according to the user’s changing living arrangements. All the user needs to do is contact the Aegis Monitoring Center with their new address and they will be able to monitor the user at his or her new location.
If a user needs additional wrist or pendant devices, they can be added to the system at any time. Aegis will not include an additional monitoring charge for the additional devices.
